Today was a gorgeous day outside and so we decided to take advantage of it! We headed to the stables in Rock Creek Park to drop our car and take a short hike into the woods to search for the Capitol Stones!
After a little searching and asking some other people out and about we finally found the foot path to the hidden stones! When we found them it was SO COOL!
It was like walking into a secret garden or a hidden world! We were amazed to see this secret wonder!
Some of the stones were just flat. Others were carved and molded. It was really neat! We loved walking around and climbing on the secure stones. It was such a cool adventure!
Even Daddy had a great time and loved exploring this amazing discovery with us. We couldn't believe that Daddy didn't already know about this little hidden gem!
For lunch we made a stop at Union Market! We were so excited. We haven't been there in SO long! There weren't a lot of stalls open but thankfully it was pretty empty because it was a week day. We got fish and chips and some taco's from the outdoor food truck. Then we got to get ice cream for dessert.
We sat outside and it was awesome!
Then we made our way to the National Arboretum and at our first stop we saw this little guy! A cute little skink lizard!
We walked around the Asian Gardens and the beautiful pathways...
Then we did some driving around and made our way to the Capitol Pillars! It was a day filled with old Capitol relics today!
We had fun exploring this connection to the capitol too. And it was fun to climb and play on the pillars!
Then we did some exploring around the main building. The moat and the bonsai garden which was unfortunately closed due to Covid...
Then we did some exploring around the herb gardens. It was so beautiful and fragrant! It was such a fun day. We loved exploring and we can't wait to come back to the arboretum when more is open and blooming so we can do more exploring!
For dinner, MeMa and PopPop came over and we made crab cakes with some of the crab meat from the crabs we picked on our charter in the Outer Banks! They were so yummy and it was so much fun to hang out with MeMa and PopPop!
