This morning we all got up early, grabbed our buddy Michael J and jumped in the car to head to work with Daddy! We parked at the Capitol and then we all walked over to the Library of Congress!!

It was a short walk across the lawn and over to the library. We checked out the exterior then it was in to the gorgeous Thomas Jefferson building. When we got there it wasn't crowded at all and so we were with only one other family for the family tour. It was like a private tour! It was awesome!

We learned so much about the architecture and art work and design and paintings and symbolism of the building.

Then we got to see Thomas Jeffersons actual collection of books from his library. It was AMAZING! It was over 6,000 books! He actually read all of these books. And many more! He had books on politics and philosophy, on art and poetry, on science and history and in many different languages. These books were from the 1800's and it was amazing to see. Mama was very impressed by this collection. We all thought it was pretty cool!

Then we got to see the main reading room, the dome and the mosaic of Minerva, the goddess of war and wisdom. It was really a super educational and fun and amazing tour and what a beautiful building. Daddy loved it so much he couldn't leave and go to work, he just wanted to stay and enjoy the tour with us!

When the tour was over Daddy headed to work and we got to go explore the Children's Reading Room. And boy was it great! There were three large rooms full of amazing books and crafts and reading areas and coloring stations and an awesome area to perform puppet shows! Mama read us some books on the super comfy, super big bean bag chairs and then we all hung out and looked at Where's Waldo books!

When we were done in the reading room the librarian pointed us toward this secret door in the hallway. We went in that door and once inside went down a secret spiral staircase that led to the tunnels down below the building. We followed the tunnels all the way to the Madison Building and then went up to the 6th floor to have lunch in their cafeteria! It was so yummy and so cool because we could see everything from up there. What a nice place to have lunch with a view!

Then it was time to head out. We spent some time checking out the fountain out front then we headed over to Daddy's office to check it out and show Michael Statuary Hall. He liked it and we had fun showing him around a little bit.

We had a long, fun day but it wasn't over! We got home and did some playing and running around outside. THEN it was time for me to head to school to meet my teacher, Mrs. Hatcher, and to see my new classroom. My goodness was it a great room! So much fun stuff to play with and explore! I can't wait to come back next week to play with all the toys and my friends new and old! It's going to be a great year and I get to eat lunch at school this year. I am such a big boy!

Then it was time for my soccer practice! I got to see lots of my friends that I haven't seen all summer and some that I've seen a lot! It was hard work and a lot of running around but I had a great time getting back in there!

It was a busy day but we sure did have fun! Can we just make it stay summer forever?!
