Today was an amazing day! Not only was it a hooky day, it was the day we were going to get to go on our penguin experience at the Maryland Zoo that MeMa and PopPop gave us 2 Christmases ago!!

                           

Our first stop on the trail to the penguins were the adorable Prairie Dogs!!! They are SO CUTE and they make an adorable sound too!

                           

                           

                             

Then we got straight to the penguins! They're habitat looks great!

                             

We learned that these penguins are South African penguins and their habitat and climate where they come from is very similar to that of Baltimore's climate so they feel right at home!

                          

Then it was time to finally meet our friends in person. We were SO excited! And boy were they cute up close!

                            

We got to meet Peach and Eddie today! They were really interested in my light up shoes.

         

                         

I knew it was a good idea to wear those shoes! We got to visit with our friends and learn all kinds of cool facts about them!

They're so cute when they waddle around! And even when they're pooping everywhere!

                           

                            

                          

                           

                          

                            

We liked taking some pictures with the penguins before they had to leave. We wish we had a pet penguin to take home with us!

                           

                           

                           

                            

After our in-person visit we went to check them out in their habitat! They look so cool swimming around like little torpedoes!

                         

                           

                          

                           

                            

                           

                           

We love Penguins!!

After our penguin adventure we decided to check out some of the other awesome animals in the zoo!

                          

This bird looked like a dinosaur mixed with a robot!

                         

                           

                          

We definitely didn't want to make these next couple of animals angry...

                           

                                 

The elephant was adorable! She was eating brussels sprouts, carrots and other goodies!

                            

                          

Then it was time for a drink break!

And a stinky visit to the giraffes! They are pretty cute but boy are they smelly!

                          

                          

We called this the EYE tree because it looked like it had eyes on us!

                          

Next we visited the monkeys...we felt right at home!

                           

                         

And of course we had to each get a stuffed penguin on our way out! I got the most realistic one and I named her Peach just like the one we met!

                           

Then we decided to go have a little snack at Nick's Fish House to celebrate a great hooky day and being together!

                          

It's been a long time since we've been out to a restaurant. At least we got to sit in their outdoor tent! It was a ton of fun and felt almost normal!

                           

                           

It was a wonderful day!
